Volunteer: English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Tutor - Training!

This event is for individuals interested in becoming an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tutor with Literacy Together. By signing up, you are registering for the required 8-hour tutor training (currently offered online) that will prepare you to work with adult immigrant learners.

About the Tutor Role:
After training, tutors are matched with adult students who want to learn English and/or prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Exam. Students come with a wide range of literacy and English language skill levels, and their goals often include:

Improving employment opportunities

Supporting their children’s education

Passing the Naturalization Exam

Tutors commit to meeting with their students for two hours each week for at least one year. Sessions may be conducted online or in person, depending on the needs of the student and tutor. Ongoing support and additional workshops are provided.

Length: 8 hours total

Purpose: Equip you with the tools and resources to effectively tutor adult English learners at all literacy levels
