Volunteer: Supply Acquisition VolunteerCome lend a hand to staff running our AHOPE Day Center, where we assist individuals experiencing homelessness in Buncombe County meet their basic needs and connect to vital services. We strive to end each client’s experience of homelessness and help them on their journey to permanent housing. Do you like to drive? Are you located in or near Buncombe County? The supply acquisition volunteer may be perfect for you! We are so grateful to work with companies and organizations like Milk Co., City Bakery, the four Patton Avenue Pet Co locations, Caring For Children, and the Asheville Humane Society. The supply acquisition volunteer would be picking up in kind donations like packaged food, bread, gallons of milk, and pet supplies. Additionally there may be some need to take donations to the Homeward Bound Welcome Home Donation Center in Woodfin, that can not be utilized at the day center. Lastly, there would be some need for putting away donations, and some light packaging - mostly filling up baggies with dog food to hand out. The ideal day/times would be Wednesdays in between the hours of 7:30am and 4pm, but there is a lot of flexibility with this opportunity so please don't let that deter you. **Please note that this would include going to multiple locations to pick up and drop off donations to and from the AHOPE Day Center**
New AHOPE volunteers will need to undergo a brief onboarding process and background check once they have volunteered more than 2 times. This is required by our insurance. The best way to sign up to volunteer at AHOPE is to fill out an application at homewardboundwnc.org/volunteer. The Assistant Director of Homeless Services will then reach out to you to walk you through onboarding and connect you to the most appropriate opportunities. You can contact the Assistant Director of Homeless Services at volunteer@homewardboundwnc.org or 828-772-2849.
