Needs From: Togetherhood

Volunteer: Development Office Support

Be part of the engine that powers the mission at Western Carolina Rescue Ministries.

This is more than administrative support—this is an opportunity to directly strengthen how resources, donors, and community support come together to serve individuals experiencing homelessness.

If you’re someone who likes organized work, wants flexible service hours, or is interested in how nonprofits actually operate and grow, this is a high-value role.

What You’ll Do:

Support donor outreach efforts through mailings and material preparation

Assist with data entry and organization that keeps operations running smoothly

Help prepare key documents and resources for fundraising initiatives

Work alongside staff on meaningful, real-time projects

Why This Matters:
Every organized file, every prepared mailing, and every accurate entry helps unlock funding, deepen donor relationships, and expand services. Your work directly fuels meals, shelter, and long-term support for those in need.

What You’ll Gain:

Real exposure to nonprofit development and fundraising operations

Flexible, low-physical-demand volunteer work (ideal for weekdays)

A great opportunity for students, professionals, or anyone exploring nonprofit careers

A meaningful way to contribute if you prefer structured, behind-the-scenes roles

Best Fit For:

Detail-oriented individuals who enjoy organized tasks

Volunteers looking for flexible or weekday opportunities

Students or professionals interested in nonprofit leadership or development

Anyone who wants to make an impact beyond front-line service

Volunteer: Monday Mail Volunteer

Come lend a hand to staff running our AHOPE Day Center, where we assist individuals experiencing homelessness in Buncombe County meet their basic needs and connect to vital services. We strive to end each client’s experience of homelessness and help them on their journey to permanent housing.
AHOPE is open Monday - Friday. We are open for services from 8am to 1pm on M,T,Th,F and 8am to 11am on Wednesdays. Staff are present on site from 7a to 4pm daily.  AHOPE is not open on weekends or federal holidays. On occasion, the AHOPE staff is required to attend meetings/trainings off site.

AHOPE has a new digitized mail system that requires extra data input work on Mondays, as mail is heavier after we are closed for the weekend. The system allows each client to be searched for when checking their mail so identify how much and what kind of mail that person has and where in the mailroom it is located. The Monday Mail Volunteer would help to label and input into the system all of the new mail that came in each Monday.

This opportunity exists between 11am and 3pm each Monday. Some flexibility exists.

Duties:

Place a QR code sticker on each piece of mail, including packagesUsing a smart phone, input all information regarding that piece of mail into the databaseArrange mail in bins according to sticker number and place in appropriate spaces in the mailroom
