All Buncombe County YMCA Afterschool sites are coming together to collect canned goods and essential pantry items to support our YMCA Mobile Nutrition Hub/Market
Now we need people who are ready to move. This is your chance to be the bridge between generosity and impact.
Join us as we turn piles of canned goods into organized, ready-to-deliver support for families in our community. You won’t just be sorting food — you’ll be packing meals, creating access, and helping fuel households across Western North Carolina.
In two hours, you’ll see the difference your hands made.
Serve alongside our Youth Ambassador team. Work together. Move with purpose. Leave knowing you helped put food into someone’s home.
Donations start the story.
Volunteers finish it.
Step in. Show up. Make it count.
*Note, Donations are also still needed, please feel free to bring canned goods if you are not able to serve*
What Volunteers Will Do
Volunteers will assist with:
-
Sorting donated food items
-
Checking expiration dates
-
Bagging and organizing pantry items
-
Preparing food for transport to the Nutrition Hub
-
Assisting with inventory preparation
This is hands-on, team-based work with immediate and visible impact.
Why It Matters
Before food reaches a family, someone has to prepare it.
Your two hours of service will help ensure families receive organized, safe, and thoughtfully prepared food bags through our Mobile Nutrition Market.
Every bag packed represents dignity.
Every box sorted strengthens access to food in our community.
