Join fellow Ferguson YMCA members for a hands-on day of service as we partner with Asheville GreenWorks to clean up a highly traveled stretch of Smokey Park Highway. This project focuses on a visible corridor that connects neighborhoods, schools, and local businesses—an opportunity to make an immediate and lasting impact.
We’ll meet at the back parking lot of the Mcdonald's, additional parking available at the Asheville Inn. (401 Smokey Park Highway). From there, we’ll work our way along Smokey Park Highway, cleaning the roadside from the intersection of Sand Hill School Road down to Spartan Avenue, near Waffle House and Wendy’s. Once the cleanup is complete, we’ll return to the YMCA together to wrap up the day.
This is a low-barrier, high-impact volunteer opportunity. Whether you’re able to join for part of the project or stay for the full duration, your time makes a difference. Families and first-time volunteers are welcome.
What You’ll Do

Remove litter along sidewalks, roadside areas, and public spaces

See immediate, visible results from your efforts in a high-traffic area
All collected trash will be consolidated and picked up by the appropriate local services.
