Montmorenci UMC’s Free Community Meal provides a warm dinner and fellowship for neighbors each month. This event happens every third Thursday of the month.
Volunteers play a key role in making it happen.

We’re looking for helping hands in the meal preparation process—chopping, cooking, and assembling dishes in the church kitchen before guests arrive.

No professional experience is required—just a willingness to serve and work as part of a team. By volunteering, you’ll help ensure every guest enjoys a fresh, home-cooked meal and a night of hospitality.

Montmorenci UMC’s Free Community Meal provides a warm dinner and fellowship for neighbors each month.  This event happens every third Thursday of the month. 

Volunteers play a key role in making it happen and are needed to help serve meals to guests.
As a serving volunteer, you’ll plate and distribute food, offer drinks, and help ensure every guest feels welcomed and cared for.

No prior experience needed—just a warm heart and a willingness to serve. This is a great opportunity to connect directly with community members, share kindness with a smile, and make the evening run smoothly.

After each Free Community Meal, volunteers are needed to help with cleanup tasks that keep the church kitchen and fellowship space ready for the next gathering.

Cleanup volunteers assist with washing dishes, wiping tables, taking out trash, and putting away supplies.

This behind-the-scenes role is essential to the success of the meal and ensures Montmorenci UMC can continue offering a warm, welcoming space for the community each month.

Do you enjoy driving and want to make a direct impact in your community? Montmorenci UMC’s Free Community Market relies on volunteers to pick up donated groceries from local stores and deliver them to the church so that every guest can have essential food items in their homes.

This is an important recurring role, and a training session is required to prepare you for routes, pickup procedures, and coordination with store partners. Volunteers will load and transport grocery items, so a larger vehicle (pickup truck, SUV, or van) is necessary.

Pick ups would be at the following locations: 

Food Lion: 35 Westridge Market Pl, Candler, NC 28715
Dollar General: 210 TF Kirkpatrick Way, Candler, NC 28715

Do you have a larger vehicle and an interest in helping fresh food reach neighbors in need?

Montmorenci UMC’s Free Community Market depends on volunteers to collect fresh produce donations from Sand Hill Community Garden and deliver them to the church for distribution.

Because this is a recurring role, a training session is required to review pickup procedures, loading guidelines, and coordination with garden partners. Volunteers will load and transport produce, so a pickup truck, SUV, or van is needed.

Help us prepare a welcoming space for neighbors at Montmorenci UMC’s Free Community Market!
