Come help out at our Sand Hill Nursery, where we house potted native trees to be distributed/planted in our community!

What will volunteers do?

Tasks vary and often include

repotting weedingpruning spacingmulchingorganizing other special projects to improve infrastructure and function. What will volunteers need to bring or wear?

Please come dressed in work clothes with closed-toed shoes. Bring water and sun protection. All other gear and supplies are provided.

What should volunteers know about the location?

This is located inside of the Bumcombe County Sports Park. Drive past the dog park and take the first left into the parking lot.

Help us achieve our goal of Waste Free Waterways!

Come to Pick Up Litter then stick around and get Hoppy with us at one of our local Breweries.

This volunteer event is a Bi-Weekly opportunity. With your help, Asheville GreenWorks is systematically removing thousands of pounds of litter and keeping it out of our waterways. Together we help create healthier communities and cleaner water for everyone from the Newts to Our neighbors. Thank you for helping us move forward towards a climate resilient future for all!

What will volunteers do?

During these projects volunteers will be removing litter from Buncombe County creeks and roadways.

We will be focusing on waterways and areas impacted by Tropical Storm Helene. The work will be dirty, challenging, and rewarding! We will spend 2 hours removing litter and piling it into a trailer for removal. Then, those who want to stick around will make their way to the designated establishment for a celebratory beverage.

**Please note that Asheville GreenWorks (AGW) does not purchase or provide alcoholic beverages for volunteers at our events. The post cleanup gatherings are merely a suggestion and are not facilitated or managed by AGW.**

For our Cold Weather Cleanups

Asheville GreenWorks will provide the following:

We will meet at French Broad River Brewing to cleanup a section of Sweeten Creek. A big thank you to FBRB for letting us use their parking lot to stage our cleanup. French Broad River Brewing is the suggested post cleanup hangout site - lets show them some gratitude and support their business.

PARKING:

Please park on the side closest to the train tracks. Please do not to park in the lot of the Thrift store/estate sale store or directly in front of the other neighbors, Eda Rhyne. Please do not block in any of the brewers cars that are in the lot.

Other useful information:

The taproom and building itself will not be available for bathroom usage, drinks, food, etc until 4 pm. They do not allow outside food or beverages into the taproom.

A quarterly cleanup where volunteers work to pick up trash and recycling along the Haywood Road corridor.

How do you participate?

2-Meet at designated supporting local business. (This location will be different each quarter so please double check the address for each individual event.) Breakfast will be ready at 10:00am.

3-Grab some yummy breakfast - provided by local businesses, receive instructions and gear, and head out as a group to pick up of trash along Haywood Road and side streets.

4-Return gear to starting location.

What will volunteers need to bring or wear?

Please dress for the weather in clothing that you feel comfortable walking in. Bring water and any personal items that you need.

Consider bringing: Sunscreen, Snacks, Sunglasses, and a Hat or Buff.

Please park in their main parking lot in front of the liquid center.

About the event

Volunteer to divert waste from our landfills by collecting and sorting items from the community to be recycled.

What will volunteers do?

Volunteers can register to support a specific station or be a runner and help to unload any and all items from vehicles as they come through the event. Expect a fast-paced, fun event serving the community. We regularly see 600+ vehicles at our events.

Volunteers, staff, and partners help each other collect and sort items, while being safe and efficient. This drive-through style event takes place outside, rain or shine!
